Dermal Roller and Dermapen
If you are looking for the most effective treatments for a smooth and firm skin, or to reduce acne scarring and wrinkles, you will no doubt have read about the importance of building collagen in the deeper layers of the skin, either by creating real micro-trauma at the correct depth of the skin, or by giving the body the perception of damage (using precise laser frequencies).
One of the most well-known methods of creating that skin micro-trauma is medical needling, the term used for causing tiny lesions across target areas of the face or body using small needles. This is also called micro-needling, and is a long-proven treatment used to induce collagen production in the skin by triggering the body’s natural healing response. It is a non-surgical procedure for facial and body rejuvenation that involves the use of a needling device to create controlled skin injury. As each needle punctures the skin, it creates a micro-wound which triggers the body to fill these micro-wounds by producing new collagen and elastin in the uppermost layer of the dermis, resulting in an immediate plumping effect. Putting it simply, just as if you had had a real injury, your body will heal and repair.
Please do not get confused, as there are several names for this, depending on the exact method used. The most popular name is dermaroller, where needles are in a small manual rolling device, however technology has moved on substantially since this first appeared several years ago. At Ethos we now offer a more effective and much less traumatic treatment with the use of an electrically activated device (Dermapen), always performed by a medical professional. Dermapen enables a much better control of the depth at which each needle penetrates the skin. resulting in a more precise treatment and better results, particularly in the areas very close to the eye.
The best results are achieved with a course of 3-5 treatments, depending on what you need to achieve, but you should see the impact already from treatment one. Each treatment continues to improve your skin for up to two years. The Dermapen offers very minimal discomfort and it does not require the use of anaesthetic cream before treatment, although for very sensitive patients or areas we can use numbing if needed. There is minimal downturn and you can go straight to work afterwards.
You can do this treatment alone or in combination with other treatments (for instance by applying a skin boost serum across the area treated and infusing it deeply for a radiant glow) . One of our Aesthetic Nurses will design a complete solution specifically for your skin. This treatment is one of THE most effective for the reduction of scars and skin rejuvenation (improved skin texture, firmness and hydration), as well as for treating pigmentation, age spots and stretch marks. As part of a medical facial, you will have a really nice and relaxing experience, and leave with a totally renewed complexion which carries on improving itself from within…
