Cherry angiomas are also known as ‘blood spots’, they are harmless vascular lesions in the skin and are very common. They have the appearance of a bright red blemish or spot that is slightly raised. This type of lesion is not typically a problem unless it bleeds often or changes in size, shape or colour.
Another harmless vascular lesion is spider nevus or spider angioma which is a small cluster of capillaries with a centrally dilated blood vessel giving the lesion a web or spider-like appearance. They can appear singly on a cheek or in numbers. They are harmless but can lead to feelings of self – consciousness and can be more visibly ageing than lines and wrinkles.
Thread veins are similar to varicose veins only smaller. Sometimes known as spider veins, they are often red or blue in colour and are closer to the surface of the skin than varicose veins. They usually appear near the ankle, over the inside of the knee and outside of the thigh.
Visible improvement in three treatments
These vascular lesions can be treated with Regenlite pulsed dye laser which is very successful at painlessly shrinking the blood vessels from view by targeting the blood vessels with pulses of light energy which leave the surrounding skin unharmed. Clients see a visible and permanent reduction in redness by as much as 75% in one to three treatments. Micro Sclerotherapy can work well for thread veins on the legs by injecting a solution that seals the blood vessel. Our medical aestheticians and dermatologists can recommend effective skin care products to help alleviate any redness associated with these vascular lesions.
